Jean-Christophe Lavocat
Fractional Head of Data & AI (Available)

Helping scaling companies to build their « Data & AI » function from scratch and hire the team that runs it.

Drawing on 15 years as VP Data, Head of Growth and RevOps, across Europe and the US, I help startups and scale-ups (20–250 people) go from zero to one in data.

As your fractional Head of Data for 3–6 months, I build the stack, align your executive team on one source of truth, and hire or train the team that takes over. Fast setup, clear ROI, zero long-term overhead until you're ready.

Trusted with data & growth at 52 Entertainment, Exoty, Elokenz and Okédito.

What I do

Three things I typically deliver in a 3–6 month engagement:

01

A data stack that holds up

A cloud warehouse, a real transformation layer, orchestrated pipelines. Analytics-ready models — not another pile of scheduled scripts.

02

Numbers the board trusts

Product, marketing and financial KPIs with one definition each. Cohort and LTV analysis. Dashboards that survive contact with the exec team.

03

A team, not a dependency

Ownership, hiring, process. When I leave, someone I hired or trained keeps it running without me.

VP Data & Growth — building the data function from scratch.

250employees
€140Mrevenue
8business units
2 → 10team scaled

8 business units, 8 different tech stacks, no shared data language. I built the warehouse (BigQuery), analytics engineering (dbt), BI (Looker) and orchestration (Prefect); ~60 dashboards across product, marketing, finance and exec reporting; LTV models feeding marketing investment; and a team I recruited and managed from 2 to 10 people.

The hard part wasn't the warehouse. It was building one semantic layer that 8 different businesses could all trust and use.

Let's find out if it's a fit

The fastest way in is the short form on my Fractional Head of Data page — a few questions so the call is actually useful, not a sales pitch. Prefer to just write? That works too.
